Cambridge Advanced
Advanced (Age 16+)
Cambridge AS Level is a two-year programme offered to 16 – 18-year-olds. School-leaving examinations are set and marked by the University of Cambridge. Great emphasis is placed on the acquisition of skills, the application of knowledge, and the development of students' thinking skills. The Cambridge curriculum helps students become independent thinkers, sharpens critical thinking skills, and builds the confidence to confront challenges. Cambridge is known worldwide for delivering an excellent education that prepares students for both further study and the workplace.
Students choose from a selection of subjects, with syllabi designed to develop deep subject understanding and independent thinking skills. Six AS subjects are recommended over two years for students who wish to pursue tertiary studies in South Africa, Canada, or the USA. A-Level, offered as a post-matric course equivalent to Year 13, is typically taken as three subjects by students who want to pursue studies in the UK, Europe, or Australia.
Excelsior Academic College offers AS/A-Level classes in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, English, and Afrikaans for CIE (Cambridge International Examinations) board examinations. Examinations can be written in the May/June or Oct/Nov sessions.
